European, Sunshine, and Asian Tour at Heritage Golf Club

Last weekend, the heatwave thumped Alfred Dunhill Championship played at Leopard Creek Country Club marked the start of the 2019/2020 European Tour season. Pablo Larrazabal finally ended a 4-year title-less drought in a spectacular motif as to clinch his fifth tour victory.

Now the Tour swings east to Heritage Golf Club at Heritage Resorts in Bel-Ombre, Mauritius for the fifth edition of the AFRASIA BANK Mauritius Open - The first of its kind on the international golf scene, to be tri-sanctioned by the Sunshine Tour, the European Tour, and Asian Tour.

The field is made up of 48 professionals from each of the three Tours plus 12 invitations competing in a 71-hole stroke play championship that counts towards the Tours' individual Order of Merits including the Race to Dubai and the Official World Golf Ranking.

South Africans have dominated at Heritage, with George Coetzee taking the first trophy in 2015 and Dylan Frittelli the third in late 2017. However, This will be the largest professional field in the history of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open. A field of 156 professionals from over 30 nations is competing for the €1 million purse.

About Heritage Golf Club

Designed by Peter Matkovich, on the bucolic Domaine de Bel Ombre, between rolling mountains and a greenish-blue lagoon, the Heritage Golf course features a 6.986-yards 18 hole championship course for par-71. There are two par-5s on each of the nines. But a maximum of five par-3s, three of them on the front nine.

The elevation changes are quite significant, with drives both from the ninth and eighteenth boxes above the fairway, so strong winds are always a possibility.

The Weather - Heritage Le Telfair Golf

But, unlike last week's scorching temperatures experienced at Leopard Creek, our weather boffins forecast fairly moderate temperatures for Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort though out.

That is except mid-Saturday and Sunday, where we foresee possible afternoon showers and a thunderstorm respectively, with fairly calm yet interchanging in direction and intensity winds.
