Willett wins Nedbank Challenge

England’s Danny Willett won his second European Tour title and the biggest prize purse in his career when he was victorious at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa on Sunday.

An invited field of the world’s top players did battle for the trophy during Sunday’s final round, with compatriots Ross Fisher and Luke Donald giving Willett chase on the front nine. After the turn however, the champion’s game took off in earnest and his margin of victory began to widen.

After a perfect final round, Willett carded a 66 to end the tournament 18 under par – four strokes ahead of Fisher who took second place. Willett first won on the European Tour in 2012, at the BMW International Open and has been a strong contender at Tour events ever since.

Spieth victorious at Hero World Challenge
The American Jordan Spieth continued his winning streak on Sunday when he seized victory at the Hero Word Challenge with a commanding ten-stroke lead.

After a heroic final round, Spieth finished the Challenge at 26 under par to break the tournament record of 262 set by the event’s founder, Tiger Woods. Sweden’s Henrik Stenson was ten strokes behind the champion in second place.

Spieth’s single bogey at the 14th hole was the only slip-up in an otherwise excellent round – which included an eagle and six birdies. The bogey came after 43 consecutive par-or-better holes for the young champion who approached the tournament with great confidence after his victory last week at the Australian Open.

Meanwhile, tournament founder Tiger Woods found himself at the bottom of the leader board after a series of bogeys – and one triple bogey during the final round. The former world number one has been on medical rest for the past few weeks after weathering a debilitating back injury but was able to complete the tournament nonetheless.
