Jon Rahm's up to No 7 in the World

Tiger Woods, whose 683 weeks as the World No 1 may never be matched, has hit a new low as he battles to overcome ongoing injuries.

In a week in which Spain's fast-rising Jon Rahm was ousting Henrick Stenson at No 7 in the only change among the World Top 10 ahead of the Open Championship starting at Royal Birkdale on Thursday, the sidelined Woods saw his ranking plummet to a new career-low at 1,005.

In the meantime, the weekend winners on the European and US PGA Tours have both made significant gains on the ranking list as each head for Royal Birkdale.

Cabrera-Bello, the winner of the Scottish Open on Sunday, vaulted from 31st to 17th and Bryson DeChambeau, the American youngster who picked up his first PGA Tour title at the John Deere Classic, leapt from 144th to 80th.

English young gun Callum Shinkwin, who came so desperately close to winning his first European Tour title before losing the playoff to Cabrera-Bello at The Scottish Open, arguably made the most important climb of all this week as his second place finish in a strong international field rocketed him all of 247 places from 405th to 158th in the World.
