The US PGA Tour is lending its support to Australian golfer Jarrod Lyle in his ongoing battle with cancer.
Tour officials have launched an initiative named "January for Jarrod," with the aim of giving Lyle and his young family financial support following a third bone marrow transplant to treat a recurrence of acute myeloid leukaemia.
Fellow professionals and Tour supporters are now able to make non-tax-deductible donations at www.youcaring.com/januaryforjarrod, with all proceeds going to the Lyles to offset daily living, family and medical expenses.
"It's an unbelievable idea from the tour," said fellow Victorian Marc Leishman, the current Australian No.1.
"He's having his struggles and those medical bills add up pretty quick. It's great to see that the Tour is thinking about their players.
"I think he'll be emotional because any time you have people thinking about you brings that out. To know his tour family is right behind him is great.
