Local favorite, Louis Oosthuizen came from battling with kidney stones at the storied Gary Player Golf Course and Country Club in Sun City last night to stun a stellar field and take the lead in the first round of 2019 Nedbank Golf Challenge.
South African number one, Oosthuizen fired a bogey free opening round of 63 at the European Tour-sanctioned 39th Nedbank Golf Challenge. That was nine shots under par-72, three shots ahead of Belgian professional Thomas Detry and Italian Guido Migliozzi.
However, Oosthuizen was not the only one on fire.
On the other hand, Ernie Els, the International team Skipper for the upcoming Presidents Cup which tees off at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Australia in less than a month from today, says he knows the Gary Player Golf Course and Country Club like the back of his hand. He proved it by carding 4 shoots under par-72 - in the dramatic opening round of the 2019 Nedbank Golf Challenge.
These are the shoots that placed Louis Oosthuizen at the top of the leaderboard in last night’s round 1 of the Nedbank Golf Challenge at the Gary Player Golf Course and Country Club. What a brilliant first round. Oosthuizen leads the 2019 Nedbank Challenge with a 63.
