QBE Shootout: English, Kuchar favoured

The 2017/18 US PGA Tour has closed up shop for 2017 and will resume in early January with the Tournament of Champions in Hawaii, but for some of its pros, there is still money to be made.

This week, 12 two-man teams that include one woman, Lexi Thompson, the USA's no 1 LPGA golfer who is paired with Tony Finau, will fight it out for prize money worth $3.5million in the QBE Shootout, a 'silly season' event with a unique make-up.

It calls for the scramble format to be used in the first round on Friday, a modified alternate shot format on Saturday and a better ball format in the final round on Sunday.

The event is traditionally hosted by Greg Norman and has been set down this year to be played at the Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida.

At 4/1 Matt Kuchar and Harris English are favoured by the British bookmakers to win followed by Kevin Chappell and Kevin Kisner at 6/1 and Charlie Hoffman and Zach Johnson and Brian Harman and Pat Perez at 13/2.
