World Rankings: Casey up to No 12

Paul Casey's dramatic win in the US PGA Tour's Valspar Championship in Florida on Sunday where he came out of the pack to triumph with a sparkling 65, has elevated the seasoned 40-year-old Englishman from 17th to 12th on the latest World Rankings list.

And Tiger Woods, whose 683 weeks in possession of the No 1 spot on the World Rankings list is a record by far, but who, after several years of injuries, had slumped to No 656 in the World at the start of 2018,  has hosted himself 239 rungs from 239th to 149th on the strength of his tie for second in the Valspar with fellow American Patrick Reed.

Reed, who shot a closing 68 to Woods's 70 as both finished one shot behind Casey, lifted himself from 27th to 23rd.

Another golfer who made a big leap on the rankings list was the Englishman Matt Wallace who won the Hero Indian Open in New Delhi on Sunday.

Wallace hoisted himself a total of 58 places to No 94 in the World with his second win on the European Tour while Andrew 'Beef' Johnston, who finished 2nd to him, went from 160th to No 125.

And finally, Thailand's Kiradech Aphibarnrat who took a break from the European Tour last week to stroll to a six-shot victory with a closing three-under-par 68 at the Asian Development Tour's Richard Mille Brunei Championships on Saturday, has moved up from 36th to a career-best 31st.
