We all have our days of good golf, our days of great golf. But then there is those days when you wished you never got out of bed! It happens. That’s the game.
A lot of guys come to me and say that they are too erratic on the golf course. When they are on the range, they are fine but it is as soon as they step onto the golf course that they find themselves worrying about whether they are going to hit it left or right or straight. This inconsistency is usually the cause of poor alignment on the course. Guys don’t practise correctly on the range and when they step onto the course they don’t know how to aim.
How to correct - it is very important that you pick yourself a target to aim at and not just smack one ball after another. Pick a target and align a club on the ground aiming at that target. Now place another club parallel to that one. What you have now is something that resembles a train track. Placing your ball by the first club pointing at the target, set your feet by the second club so as to stand square to the ball to target line.
Now you are aiming square. Make a couple of swings and practise setting up square on the range and you’ll be setting up square on the course, thus hitting more shots online and lowering your scores.
