In an extinct volcanic crater in the North West Provence of South Africa, golf icon and grand slam winner, Gary Player designed this world class 18 hole golf course in 1978, the Gary Player Country Club golf course. It was, named in honour of Gary Player.

The Gary Player golf course is one part of the huge Sun City entertainment complex with two Gary Player designed golf courses. The other course is the Lost City golf course, which is famous for its crocodile hole with a green in the shape of the African continent but in a canning style which outdid the strict US PGA specifications and expectations.

Gary Player CC is a par 72 flat course that requires strength and precision. Overall Gary Player golf courses' deceptive clover shaped greens are well protected by bunkers, low lying wet fairways and dunes. The par 5 ninth hole has an unforgiving island green water hazards and creatively placed bunkers.

Gary Player Country Club has virgin perfect and semi rough Kikuyu fairways with excellent bent grass greens and tees. The course is kept in perfect condition all year round and opens seven days a week. Visitors advised to frequent the golf & pro shop, putting green and health spa facilities available at the GPCC. Gary Player CC is the home venue of the annual Million Dollar Nedbank Challenge Cup since 1981, played in December.
