32-year-old South African golfer, Louis de Jager, arrived at Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course positioned at 123rd on the Race to Dubai Rankings. However, he record the lowest round of his European Tour career to take the first round lead at the Portugal Masters.
Even though the World No. 273 only made just two of his last 11 cuts, he was radiating confidence in round 1 at the Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course, were he whipped a bogey-free 8-under-par. He scored 31 on the front, and 32 back for 63 taking the lead by two shots over Jake McLeod, Oliver Fisher and Justin Walters. Thus making the clubhouse target – which is the ideal start to guarantee his 2020 European Tour card.
The battle for cards will be as intense as the battle for the trophy this week on the Algarve and many of the chasing pack will also have had the Race to Dubai Rankings Presented by Rolex on their minds.
