The road to Dubai continues as the European Tour is at the Montgomerie Maxx Royal in Turkey for tomorrows Turkish Airlines Open. Opened in 2008 and named after its designer, Colin Montgomerie, Montgomerie Maxx Royal is located in Belek, Antalya, one of Turkey’s best regions with the perfect golf weather for a tournament this big.
So, promoting the preview is Justin Rose, who is looking forward to an enticing history-making narrative at Montgomerie Maxx Royal. He’ll be defending his title for a second consecutive time. So, if he is successful, which he very much intends to come Sunday, he’ll make it three in a row at the Turkish Airlines Open.
Thus, join an elite band of legends who’ve each won a European Tour event, outside Majors and World Golf Championships, in three consecutive seasons. Only Nick Faldo, Ian Woosnam, and eight-time European Tour No.1 Colin Montgomerie have achieved such a record.
However, Rose last successfully defended a title back in 2018. But, since the Englishman is eager and in his A-Game form - he just might pull this one off and engrave his name into the European Tour history books.
This is the beginning of the Final Series on the European Tour's Race to Dubai - three closing events. So, the Nedbank Challenge, which is scheduled to tee-off at Sun City's tough and unforgiving Gary Player CC, will trail tomorrow’s Turkish Airlines Open. Then it's the season-ending the European Tour Race to Dubai - the DP World Tour Championship, to tee-off at the Jumeirah Golf Estates, Earth Course.
