A bogey-free final round for a closing 19 under, was all Lee Westwood needed to claim victory at Abu Dhabi Golf Club during last week’s Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in the first Rolex Series event of 2020.
This also goes down as the Englishman’s 25th title on his European Tour career. And with his 47th birthday on the horizon, the two-shot Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship victory will see the 46-year-old join Irish golfing legend Des Smyth and Irish citizen Mark McNulty as the elite players in European Tour history to win Tour titles spanning four decades, the 1990's, 2000's, 2010's and 2020's.
Westwood’s master class triumph at Abu Dhabi Golf Club, National Course on Sunday is also his 44th worldwide – the all in one victory set to surge him from 63rd to 29th on the Official World Rankings and make him $7 million richer.
