World Golf Rankings: Spieth still No 3

Jon Rahm's win in the Spanish Open on Sunday has taken the 23-year-old Spaniard to within a whisker (0.039 points) of overtaking Jordan Spieth at No 3 on the latest, updated World Golf Rankings list.

But, for the time being, the 23-year-old Spaniard's 5th worldwide win in something like a year sees the former World No 2 regain ground but stay pegged at No 4 behind World No 1 Dustin Johnson and fellow Americans Justin Thomas, (No 2), and Spieth (No 3) on a rankings list showing no changes among the top dozen rated golfers

Ireland's on-the-move Paul Dunne, who finished two shots behind Rahm in second place, is up from 76th to 68th while Nacho Elvira, the young Spaniard who was a further shot back in third place in Spain on Sunday has rocketed all of 56 places to No 180.

Over in the United States, Satoshi Kodaira, a six-time winner in Japan, but a first-time PGA Tour winner at the RBC Heritage at Hilton Head in South Carolina on Sunday, has leapt 19 places from 46th to 27th, and Kim Si-woo, the South Korean he edged into second place, is up from 51st to 39th and into the Top 50 bubble that is a qualifier for all the majors and WGC tournaments.

Tiger Woods, who, at the peak of his powers sat atop the World Rankings list for a record number of 680 weeks, is currently ranked at No 89 as he works at making a comeback from a series of back injuries. He was not in the field that played at Hilton Head last week.
