World Rankings: Dustin back at No 1

The most significant move to be made on the official World Golf Rankings list this week was Dustin Johnson's return to the pinnacle of the ranking list following his runaway 6-shot victory in the FedEx St Jude Classic at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee.

The big-hitting Florida-based Johnson had reigned for 64 straight week's when he lost his World Ranking crown to Justin Thomas last month, but his victory on Sunday, his 18th on the PGA Tour and his first since winning the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Hawaii in January, has put him back on top as the World No 1 as he heads to this week's US Open.

Johnson ousts Thomas who drops back in to second place ahead of Justin Rose at No 3, Jordan Spieth, now at No 4 after switches places with Spain's Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler, Jason Day and Hideki Matsuyama who have all held onto their respective places at Nos 6,7 8 9 and 10.

A bigger move lower down in the rankings was made this week by Finland's Mikko Korhonen, the inaugural winner of the European Tour's new Shot Clock Masters at the Diamond Country Club in Austria.

Korhonen has leapt from No 200 to a career-best 110th on the strength of his first European Tour win.

Connor Syme, the 22-year-old Scot who nailed a 50-foot putt at the last to finish in second place behind Korhonen, made an even bigger jump, rocketing from  836th to No 345.
