Benoni Country Club is well known for its classic golfing facility and is ranked amongst the top best 100 golf courses in South Africa.

Although the actually architect engineer responsible for the original course design is unknown to us, Benoni Country Club was founded in 1905 as Van Ryn Golf Club, and was a 9 hole golf. The Van Ryn Golf Club was established to serve the Van Ryn mining community back then. Years later Benoni Country Club was upgraded to the 18 hole championship golf course we know today. 

A number of changes have been made to the golf course at Benoni Country Club. Notably changes were made by Bob Grimsdell who give the golf course a face-lift, while Rob O’Friel modernised the greens and bunkers, although the parkland layout remains old-school it has stood the test of time.

Benoni Country Club is set in a large country side in the East Rand, Johannesburg area, complete with Springbok, Blesbok, Duiker and Steenbok.

Directions
You take the N12 towards Witbank. Pass the Boksburg Hypermarket and the Benoni Lake on your right. Take the Snake Road off-ramp and turn left at the traffic light. Take first right into Morris Avenue at the traffic light. Continue for approximately 1km along Morris Avenue and you will find the course on your left.
